There are many people who serve tirelessly to build and sustain our communities. These people are not necessarily on a title track, yet they inspire others by their action
and devotion. On Shavuot, in 1982, a new ceremony was drawn down to empower the work of one woman in her extended community. Since that time, many ceremonies have been created in public and private venues to honor the light that shines through these dedicated individuals. This has been expanded to include men as well as women. Come and learn about the process of creating an empowerment ritual for lay leaders in your community. Each day we will study the texts and contexts of several honorees and develop our skills as designers of ritual.
